Summer is often a time of change. It is a natural time to end an old job and start a new one. Some summers bring more change than others. This summer for CBMW was a summer of huge change! Not only did Owen’s and my positions change at the beginning of the summer – to President and Executive Director respectively, we saw God move a lot of pieces during the summer in and out of the organization. Some that had been with us for a long time felt called to embrace new opportunities, while others are just joining us to embark on new territory. We love all of these people and are sad to see those that are leaving go. We are excited for them, but will miss working directly alongside them for the kingdom.

That being said, we are pumped about those that are switching into new positions or are coming on to join us for the first time. We think that God has brought a lot of heart and talent to CBMW that you will soon see on our blogs and at our events. Our current staff is committed to the greatness of God and the miracle-working power of the gospel to bring change to broken lives. What more could we ask of God? He is richly blessed us with the work of all of these people!

Farewell

3Jeremy DysJeremy Dys and Drew Griffin both served our Edge Channel (Public Sphere) for the past year. Both have become increasingly involved with their respective leadership positions and feel that now is a good time for them to step away. Jeremy is now the Senior Counsel at the Liberty Institute, which is an incredible opportunity for him. Drew is in the middle of planting a church on the upper east side of Manhattan. We’re praying that God would use them mightily.

samemaldiSam Emadi, who was Assistant Editor for our Book Reviews Chanel, was recently named the Lead Researcher for Dr Albert Mohler at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Due to his increased workload (that is an understatement!), he’ll no longer be able to contribute in this role with CBMW. We are really excited for him.

kyle worley CBMWKyle Worley, our former Lead Editor of Manual, has stepped down to pursue a position at Redeemer Seminary that goes along with the work he is already doing at The Village Church in Dallas. He served CBMW faithfully for almost two years, helping to craft and shape Manual as well as gathering a large following for the blog. We will definitely miss him, and we are excited about what God has in store for him.

Hail

gg 2Greg Gibson, who was formerly the Assistant Editor of our Men’s blog, Manual, has now been named the Lead Editor of Manual. So he’s not new, but his position has shifted. Many of you know Greg well. He is a husband and father and will continue to serve as an elder at Foot Hills Church in Knoxville. His book Reformational Manhood, has just been released in a second edition! We are thrilled to have Greg working in this new role as Lead Editor.

A_Mathew SimsMathew B. Sims has come on board as the new Assistant Editor of Manual. He brings a lot of writing and editing experience to the table. He is the author of A Household Gospel: Fulfilling the Great Commission in Our Homes and a contributor in Make, Mature, Multiply. He completed over forty hours of seminary work at Geneva Reformed Seminary. He also works as the managing editor at Gospel-Centered Discipleship and blogs regularly at Grace for Sinners and other online publications. He enjoys reading, the outdoors, coffee, and good eats. He’s married to LeAnn Sims. They have three daughters—Claire, Maddy, and Adele—who are joyful, mischievous, and full of wonder (he’s outnumbered if you’re counting). They are members at Downtown Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Greenville, SC.

Brandon 5 BWBrandon Smith has been instrumental in helping put CBMW back on the map. He is a future scholar, a rising evangelical leader, and a huge asset to CBMW. He was formerly our content, web, and social media strategist. He is now the Director of Strategic Initiatives. He will be helping us think through and plan many of our future events and initiatives. We are very excited that Brandon will still be helping us in this capacity, along with his other responsibilities at Criswell College and Gospel-Centered Discipleship.

Qegh_Szj_400x400Scott Corbin and Colin Smothers have both been hired as our first (at least in a long time!) CBMW interns. They will be helping to plan conferences and events, edit the Journal for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, write blog articles for us, and help with other administrative tasks. Scott just completed an internship at The Austin Stone Community Church and is now an M.Div. student at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in the School of Theology. Colin is a Ph.D. student in Biblical Theology under Dr. Jim Hamilton at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.5ba26fbf5cfe875d4c774986188d854d
